ATHLETIC ATTENDANCE POLICY


The following is the high school policy for students who are absent from school and their participation in after-school activities (athletic or non-athletic)
 
1. Students are to attend all classes during the regular school day.
 
2. A student who is absent from school the entire day may not participate in any school activity that day. This refers to students who are ill, injured, truant or unexcused by the administration. (Exceptions)

a) Students who miss a full day of school may participate if the absence is due to: funeral, college visitation, family emergency, medical appointment or any absence approved by the administration.
 
b) Students must have a note when they return and turn it in to attendance offices before the activity. If the absence occurs on a day prior to a non-school day (i.e., Saturday or school holiday) the student must present an explanation of his /her absence in writing to the coach or activity sponsor.
 
c) Student must accept the responsibility to notify their teachers when they know they are going to be absent from class because of an athletic contest or activity participation. Class work must be completed before they leave or upon returning.
 
d) Students suspended from school remains ineligible to participate in any school activity until the first day of attendance following the suspension.

3. Students may participate in school activities if they have attended one-half day of school. Two blocks are considered to be half-day.
 
4. A student who is sent home ill, injured, or by the administration my not participate in an activity unless they meet the half-day requirement.
 
5. The administration reserves the right to alter or change this policy under special circumstances, or through instances not covered in this policy.
